Charles Leclerc plays the host and welcomes his new teammate at Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton. After the first day of testing at Fiorano, the Monegasque driver shared a few words to welcome the seven-time world champion.

“The day you get back in the car after the holidays is always very emotional. It was great to go on track and see how many fans came to watch us. Feeling and seeing all this excitement around the team motivates us more than ever,” says Ferrari’s number 16.

“Overall, the day was positive, although it rained a little while I was driving, and it was nice to see Lewis complete his first laps in a Ferrari, something very special for him and for the whole team. I can't wait to get back in the car next week and start working hard for the upcoming season,” he adds.

Moreover, the Monegasque's words suggest that the testing will continue next week, almost certainly in Barcelona, as previously announced. Perhaps, in that case, the two new teammates will have the chance to go out on track together.

The date is still unknown, but Ferrari should hold more tests with their two drivers in Barcelona, most likely before the launch of the new car, which will take to the track during the season opener in Melbourne at the Albert Park circuit.

Charles Leclerc's words were echoed by Lewis Hamilton. “I'm incredibly grateful for the affection I've felt from everyone here in Maranello this week. There's a lot of work to do, but I'm really looking forward to starting.”
