Christian Horner spoke about how impressed he was by Ollie Bearman and Franco Colapinto, two young drivers who made their Formula 1 debuts.

The 2024 Formula 1 season saw the debut of several drivers, including Ollie Bearman and Franco Colapinto, who managed to surprise both insiders and outsiders. The British Ferrari Driver Academy member had the chance to race with two different teams, proving highly competitive in both cases.

The Argentine, coming from the Williams program, was called in to replace a disappointing Logan Sargeant, immediately showcasing all his talent. Franco Colapinto succeeded in doing what his predecessor struggled to achieve—keeping up with Alex Albon. His performances earned him numerous compliments and caught the attention of some teams for the following year.

Christian Horner was also surprised
In an interview on the F1 Nation podcast, Christian Horner discussed how impressed he was with Oliver Bearman and Franco Colapinto's performances. "I'm really struggling to get a sense of what Formula 2 is like right now," said the Red Bull Team Principal. "Because when you see a driver like Bearman doing what he did in Jeddah with Ferrari, one of the toughest tracks on the calendar, it feels like you're dealing with a veteran. And he was able to do the same thing in Baku against a strong teammate like Nico Hulkenberg." – the Red Bull team principal explained.

"The same goes for Colapinto, he was a surprise. He wasn't doing that well in Formula 2, and there wasn't much talk about him. Yet he was able to have sensational races with Williams, surprising everyone," Christian Horner concluded.
