The Formula 1 2025 grid is now complete, and looking at the list of drivers who will compete in the championship, we see many new names. Six rookies will be joining the category, while several experienced drivers have decided to switch teams and take on new challenges. In fact, only two teams will start the new season with the same lineup as last year.
However, this does not mean there won't be further surprises after Abu Dhabi 2025. Many young drivers have signed contracts for just one season and will need to prove their worth immediately to avoid being left without a seat. The one reportedly in the most precarious position is Jack Doohan, who, in addition to having only a one-year contract, is said to have a clause allowing Alpine to release him after five races if he fails to meet expectations.
Joining him on the list of drivers at risk are Liam Lawson, who will face the challenge of competing alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull, Gabriel Bortoleto, who will debut with Sauber after winning both Formula 3 and Formula 2 as a rookie, and Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who will partner George Russell at Mercedes—Russell himself being in the final year of his contract. Isack Hadjar and Yuki Tsunoda are also under pressure, as their seats could be in jeopardy if they do not perform.
Among the names mentioned, we also find two veterans, Yuki Tsunoda and George Russell, who, despite being unlikely to leave the category, will still need to deliver strong seasons if they want to secure contract renewals with their respective teams and remain in Formula 1 for the long term.
