The Red Bull boss reflects on losing the 2024 Constructors' Championship and aims to reclaim the top spot next year. McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes are ready to challenge for the lead.
The 2024 Formula 1 season left a significant mark on the paddock, with Red Bull losing the Constructors' title to an extraordinary McLaren, followed by a rapidly improving Ferrari. Christian Horner, Team Principal of the Anglo-Austrian team, analyzed the year's developments and looked ahead to a thrilling 2025 season.
McLaren Constructors' Champions: Christian Horner's praise
Despite Max Verstappen securing his fourth consecutive Drivers' title, Red Bull lost the Constructors' crown, partly due to challenges faced by Sergio Perez and the increased competitiveness of rivals. McLaren emerged victorious, thanks to a flawless season finale and the crucial contributions of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
"Congratulations to McLaren and all their men and women," said Horner. "It's incredible how much work and dedication it takes to win a Constructors' World Championship. They had two exceptional drivers and deserved this success. Despite our initial advantage, we couldn't maintain the consistency needed to defend the title."
2025: A battle among four F1 giants
Looking ahead, the Red Bull team principal anticipates an "extremely tight" 2025 championship, with increasingly narrow margins between the top four teams: Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes. "Since returning from the summer break, we've seen incredible competition. Charles Leclerc has scored more points than anyone else, showing how balanced things are," Christian Horner highlighted.
With 2025 being the last regulatory year before new technical changes, Horner believes success will hinge on consistency: "It's crucial to start strong, but in such a long season, maintaining consistent performance will make the difference."
A positive year for Red Bull nonetheless
Despite the 2024 setbacks, Christian Horner highlighted the team's achievements: "We won nine races, including the triumph in Qatar. It's not comparable to the dominance of 2023, but it's still a result to be proud of."
With the promise of a high-stakes 2025 and the top teams battling for every point, Formula 1 is gearing up for a season that promises to be unforgettable.
