F1 24: Lewis Hamilton the gamers’ favorite
Lewis Hamilton is chasing his eighth Formula 1 championship title, not only on the real-world circuits of the championship but also on the virtual tracks of the official Codemasters F1 24 video game. Publisher EA Sports has released its "season wrapped" on social media, a statistical summary of the season's gameplay, following a trend inspired by Spotify. Sir Lewis was the most frequently chosen driver by players in 2024 among the twenty drivers on the (virtual) championship grid.
Ayrton Senna beats Michael Schumacher
Lewis Hamilton leads the rankings ahead of his future teammate Charles Leclerc, while world champion Max Verstappen is only third in the list of drivers most selected by players. The statistics for F1 legends are also intriguing: Ayrton Senna is the gamers’ favorite, followed by Michael Schumacher in second place and a surprise third-place finish for Jenson Button. Among young talents in Formula 2, Ferrari prospect Oliver Bearman tops the list, ahead of Enzo Fittipaldi and Isack Hadjar.

Other fascinating statistics concern the teams and tracks. Unsurprisingly, the gamers’ favorite team is Ferrari, followed by Lewis Hamilton and George Russell's Mercedes in second place and the Constructors' World Champion McLaren in third. The most favored circuits are, perhaps not coincidentally, the early ones in the calendar, with Sakhir, Melbourne, and Jeddah topping the rankings. It's no surprise that the track where players most frequently retire is the twisty street circuit of Monte Carlo.
