The surge in interest surrounding Formula 1 has brought significant new sponsorships, benefiting both the teams and the sport. This influx of money has also impacted driver salaries, with Forbes reporting a 23% increase for the top 10 earners compared to last year.
Who Are the Highest Earners?
Leading the list for the third consecutive year is Max Verstappen, earning $75 million from Red Bull, split into a fixed salary of $60 million and $15 million in performance bonuses.
Second place goes to Lewis Hamilton, who will earn $57 million in his final season with Mercedes. Completing the podium is Lando Norris of McLaren, earning $35 million following his contract renewal and impressive performances this season.
Fourth place belongs to Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin with $27.5 million. Further down are the Ferrari drivers, with Charles Leclerc in fifth place ($27 million) and Carlos Sainz in ninth ($19 million). Forbes notes that Lewis Hamilton's expected move to Scuderia Ferrari could put the British champion back at the top of the earnings list, “setting a new salary record for F1.”
