F1 fan who cut down tree at Fiorano explains: "I did it for the Ferrari fans!"

The on-track debut of the Ferrari SF-25 ignited the enthusiasm of the Tifosi, with passionate fan scenes pushing the limits of legality. Among them, a fan dubbed the "lumberjack" armed with shears and a chainsaw decided to cut down trees and branches in Fiorano just to get a better view of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc's debut in the 2025 Ferrari. His act divided public opinion: on one hand, admiration for the romantic gesture; on the other, controversy that resulted in a fine from the authorities.
Giorgio, the Ferrari lumberjack, speaks out
During the Ferrari SF-25 shakedown, FormulaItalian caught up with the fan who made headlines with his actions, now widely known as the "Fiorano lumberjack."
"I cut everything for the Ferrari fans"
Asked about his thoughts on the day, Giorgio responded enthusiastically:
"A wonderful day! To make the Ferrari fans happy, I cleared the area, cutting down all the trees. All Ferrari fans must be happy about the new car and the new driver."
How many races will Ferrari win in 2025?
Without hesitation, Giorgio replied: "At least six!"
"Ferrari will win the championship with Hamilton"
When asked when the world title would return to Maranello, Giorgio was confident:
"This year, with Hamilton, because he has to break Michael Schumacher's record. He came to Ferrari for this. Lewis will bring Mercedes’ know-how to Maranello."
However, he also expressed some regret regarding his favorite driver:
"I support Leclerc, but… I'm sorry for him… Hamilton… is more!"
From wild fandom to a fine: authorities step in
While many applauded Giorgio's dedication, there was also criticism and backlash. At the end of Ferrari's filming day, authorities approached the fan to inform him that cutting down trees on municipal land without authorization was a violation.
A limitless passion for the Ferrari SF-25
The Fiorano episode once again highlights the immense anticipation surrounding the SF-25 and the new Leclerc-Hamilton pairing. As Carlo Vanzini reiterated in Sky's press conference, this level of hype was expected, but not to this extent
