Dutch GP, not all is lost
It's not a "yes," but neither is it the definitive "no" it seemed to be a few weeks ago. Assen might reconsider its candidacy for Formula 1 and replace Zandvoort on the calendar, which will leave after the 2026 edition, according to the president of the circuit’s Board of Directors, Arjan Bos.

Arjan Bos's statements
Arjan Bos hopes that F1 will return to the Netherlands soon and aims to host it on his track, though he knows these ambitions require a great deal of time and significant political and financial resources. “My greatest desire is Formula 1, of course,” Arjan Bos commented to RTV Drenthe. “I think that when so much money has been invested in the circuit, if it were possible and there were support, then we would certainly consider this option. In principle, we are open to it, meaning we are laying the groundwork and will examine the matter calmly. But I don't think it's fair to say now that the Dutch GP will move from Zandvoort to Assen.”

“I have to be very cautious about this,” he continued. “I don't even know if Formula 1 wants to race in the Netherlands again. In fact, they want to hold fewer Grands Prix in Europe and aim to go to Africa and perhaps India as well.”

Arjan Bos's concerns are also grounded in the recent "alternating schedule" renewal of an iconic circuit like Spa-Francorchamps, which will not feature in 2028 and 2030. The same fate could befall other European races, and the Netherlands might be affected if Assen establishes concrete contact with Liberty Media. In December, a circuit spokesperson had categorically denied the possibility of a Zandvoort-Assen rotation, but Bos's statements may mark a turning point, potentially bringing back the orange tide in support of Max Verstappen.
