All F1 teams above 1 billion dollars
Formula 1 teams continue their race—not only on the track but also (and perhaps especially?) financially. This is the effect of Liberty Media, which, since its arrival at the end of 2016—when it purchased the GP circus from CVC Capital Partners—has not only quintupled the value of the sport but also made it popular among a new group of fans, particularly in territories like the United States, where interest was once marginal. This has been a windfall for the teams, allowing them to secure increasing revenue from prize money and the distribution of TV rights proceeds. As a result, according to a new study by the magazine Sportico, all F1 teams have now surpassed the crucial 1 billion dollar market value threshold.

Ferrari at the top of the rankings
This is an unimaginable result from just a few years ago, likely fueled by the budget cap, which has significantly limited teams' spending, thus increasing their operating margins. Leading the grid is Ferrari, valued at 4.78 billion dollars (4.54 billion euros in our conversion), with a 53% increase from the previous valuation conducted by Sportico in June of last year. Next in line are the other top teams, but with positions shuffled from the constructors’ standings: Mercedes is second with 3.74 billion euros, ahead of Red Bull (3.33) and McLaren (2.52). Thanks to a 44% increase in market value, even the underdog Haas joins the 1 billion dollar club, valued at 1.02 billion dollars (about 970 million euros at the current exchange rate).

Aston Martin grows by 82%
The growth rankings differ, however, from the overall standings: partly due to large infrastructure investments in their new, futuristic factory in Silverstone, the team with the biggest growth is Aston Martin, ranked fifth overall but with an 82% increase in value in just over a year and a half. Second place goes to McLaren, with a 70% increase—likely spurred by improved sporting results starting in the summer of 2023. In third place in this special ranking is Williams, which, with a 56% increase, beats Ferrari, thanks to investments in upgrading their headquarters in Grove.
