Oliver Bearman is ready to make his debut as a full-time driver in the top tier of open-wheel racing. While waiting to hit the track for his first F1 Grand Prix, the Briton has not stopped working, dedicating himself to physical training to better handle the car.
At the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saudi Arabia, Ferrari junior Oliver Bearman had the opportunity to make his F1 debut at the wheel of a Ferrari F1 car. He proved to be fast and consistent, demonstrating excellent skills. Throughout the race, he maintained strong performance, although he struggled physically towards the end.
On-board footage from his car revealed that Oliver Bearman's neck was under significant strain after numerous high-speed corners, where the forces exerted on both the car and the driver are extremely high.
It was an important test for Oliver Bearman, as he realized that compared to F2, he needs to take another step forward physically.
The Haas driver emphasized that a driver's commitment extends beyond just the track. "I don't think people fully understand how much goes on behind the scenes; we have very tight schedules with simulator work and physical training, which is really increasing. I hope you can see that my neck looks a bit bigger. It's really important." – the young British driver pointed out.
"When I was six or seven years old, I was racing about 40 weekends a year. Now, the number of race weekends has decreased a bit, but I'm competing all over the world rather than just nationally, so it has been a huge commitment since I started." – he concluded.
