Ferrari junior Oliver Bearman pinpoints goals for his first full Formula 1 season

Oliver Bearman is about to embark on his first complete season in Formula 1. After making a surprise debut last year, stepping in for the injured Carlos Sainz at Ferrari and the disqualified Kevin Magnussen at Haas, the young Briton now has the big opportunity he has obsessively worked for since childhood.
The Ferrari Driver Academy graduate impressed in his first two F1 races, finishing both in the points despite driving first for Ferrari—with all the pressure that entails—and then for Haas, which is far from a regular top-10 contender.
In short, the talent is there. But now comes his first full season, with 22 more races than he had in 2024. He will have to prove himself once again—just as every athlete must in every category and level—but, according to him, he has not set any specific goals other than improving himself race by race.
“Honestly, I haven't set any goals. Not yet. First, we need to understand how competitive our package, our car, will be. My goal is simply to try to improve my performance because I have worked on myself my entire life. I did it to reach Formula 1, so it's very easy to fall into major stress considering what I will face this year.”
“But I am very lucky and grateful to be where I am. I will try to enjoy everything that comes my way. I will try to give my best because this will be my first full season in Formula 1. I need to keep an open mind to improve as much as possible as a driver, an athlete, and a person. These are my goals.”
In 2024, besides his two Formula 1 races, Oliver Bearman competed with Prema in FIA Formula 2—a season half as long as the one he will face this year. That's why he used the winter break to… work.
The Briton realized he needed to show up in a different physical condition than in previous years. Formula 1 requires endurance for greater loads than Formula 2, so he had to adjust his training but also prepare for his interactions with the media.
“This year, I will be doing twice as many races as last year. This means it will be much more demanding mentally. I have tried to prepare as best as possible, including for travel and organizing my life to face this season in the best way. Obviously, I also had to make physical improvements.” – the Ferrari junior pointed out.
“I have prepared myself as best as I could, and I have never been in such good shape. And that's a great thing because Formula 1 requires much greater physical effort, so I have trained harder. My relationship with the press and media will also be different.” – Oliver Bearman concluded.
