The highly anticipated date, circled in red by motorsport enthusiasts, is drawing near. On January 22, 2025, an entire city, province, and perhaps even a nation will pause to witness Lewis Hamilton’s first outing in a Ferrari at Fiorano. The historic Scuderia test circuit recently turned 50 years old. Inaugurated on April 8, 1972, it was Enzo Ferrari himself who strongly insisted on having a track for private testing of his creations.

Such a feverish sense of anticipation hasn't been felt for nearly 30 years, not since November 16, 1995, when another legendary driver stepped into the cockpit of a Prancing Horse car. That driver, a German, would also go on to become a seven-time world champion.

A significant number of fans from across Italy are mobilizing to attend the grand event. Local law enforcement has already been alerted and will have their hands full ensuring that everything unfolds in full compliance with regulations.

But where are the best spots to position yourself to watch the action on the Fiorano track? Essentially, there are two. The main one is the bike path located on the overpass at the start of Via Abetone Inferiore, marking the entrance to the city of Maranello when coming from Modena. This location has been humorously nicknamed the “Bridge of Sighs” by well-known journalist Leo Turrini.

From here, you can get a good view of the car on the main straight and through the first three corners of the circuit. You can also spot the car in the distance at other parts of the track. Visitors to Fiorano are reminded that the bike path runs alongside a road with regular vehicle traffic, so it's crucial to follow the instructions of the law enforcement officers present.

The second spot is Via Marsala, a side street of Via Gilles Villeneuve in the city of Maranello. It is a dead-end road and thus quieter in terms of vehicle traffic. However, it is essential to behave respectfully, as the area is residential. This spot is located behind the pit area, at the exit of the final corner leading to the main straight. From here, you can watch the car navigate the final section of the track.
