Fred Vasseur explains why F1 Mexico GP will be "a completely different challenge" for Ferrari

The concern is the thin air: Scuderia Ferrari arrives in Mexico City riding the momentum of the incredible one-two victory last Sunday in the United States Grand Prix at the Austin circuit by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. The Maranello team is energized by the success in the U.S. Grand Prix, but Frederic Vasseur is cautious in making proclamations.
The French manager keeps his feet firmly on the ground, highlighting the difficulties of a race that promises to be very challenging for the Scuderia due to the altitude of the track dedicated to the Rodriguez brothers…
“We come to Mexico full of energy after the one-two in Austin, which has boosted the motivation of the entire team. At the Hermanos Rodriguez circuit, we face a completely different challenge where managing the car in unique environmental conditions will be the key. The thin air at 2,200 meters in Mexico City puts particular stress on car components that need to dissipate heat, so systems, brakes, the power unit, and of course the tires, will be heavily tested.” – the French manager explained.
Frederic Vasseur, however, is fully aware of Ferrari’s current level of competitiveness, having won in Texas on merit and not due to luck. It seems that since the introduction of the Monza update package, the SF-24 has been better understood by the technicians at Maranello, allowing them to extract its maximum performance.
Fred Vasseur indeed believes that an excellent job of preparation has been done back home to find the best balance in Mexico as well…
“Finding the right balance between these demands and achieving the best performance is no easy task, but we’ve prepared well at home and are ready to do our best. From an approach standpoint, we will treat this race like the previous ones, with maximum focus and attention to detail, primarily concentrating on ourselves. As usual, I expect very tight competition among the top teams, and at the end of the weekend, we will assess the level of performance we delivered as a team.” – the Ferrari team boss concluded ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix.
