"I couldn't see" – Charles Leclerc explains problems in final stages of 2024 F1 Belgian GP at Spa
07/29/2024 02:16 AM
It was clear to everyone that converting pole position into victory in the Belgian Grand Prix would be difficult. The track then showed a more competitive Ferrari than expected, with the Monegasque driver finishing just off the podium, ahead of the two top drivers of the moment, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. In the team radio broadcast after the Belgian Grand Prix at the 7.004-kilometre Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Charles Leclerc confessed to having had some problems.
Nothing to do with performance. The SF-24 performed well on a track that had seen the Scuderia struggle in recent seasons, except for the final stint. The problems encountered in recent races seem to have been at least partially resolved, and the feeling is that, upon returning from the summer break, Formula 1 will see increasingly competitive races.
Charles Leclerc’s team radio at the end of the race
Right after crossing the finish line of the Belgian GP, Charles Leclerc opened up on the radio with his race engineer Bryan Bozzi for the usual post-race comments.
BB: “P4. Russell P1, then Hamilton and Piastri. Great defense at the end.”
CL: “The pace wasn’t great today. I had a tear-off visor crack. I think it was like that for the last twenty laps.”
BB: “Ok, so you couldn’t see well?”
CL: “No, nothing to do with performance. But I couldn’t see well in the right mirror.”
A small inconvenience that did not prevent Charles Leclerc from finishing ahead of Max Verstappen and Lando Norris.
