Imola circuit: million-euro investment and new construction for a terrace above pit garages

After the canceled 2023 Formula 1 edition and the spectacular Grand Prix held this year, Imola is betting strongly on its future and seeking renewal with F1. Following a series of interventions already planned and approved, Formula Imola and Con.Ami are preparing further improvements to the facilities. With the arrival of the new project in committee, a new investment has been presented in Imola for additional construction work to create a terrace above the pit garages.
The presentation of the new structure above the garages certainly makes an impressive visual impact. The main goal of these works is to increase the hospitality space to meet the increasingly demanding requirements of Formula 1.
The new structure above the pit garages will be temporary, a sort of semi-permanent tensile structure to host many people during the largest motorsport events. Among these are the Formula 1 World Championship and the Endurance Championship, which will remain in Imola until 2028. The construction project for this structure covers an area of over three thousand square meters. For now, only part of this structure will be built, to be ready to host the biggest motorsport events of 2025, WEC in April and F1 in May.
The project comes at a significant cost, estimated at 2.8 million euros, with contributions from the Region and the Municipality. However, according to Il Resto del Carlino, there is much debate over the value of the planned interventions for Imola. Currently, the chances of renewing the Italian circuit are not high, and the opposition questions whether it makes sense to spend all these funds.
Despite these tensions, the purpose of this new tensile structure is not exclusively aimed at Formula 1 and WEC. It will be a covered terrace allowing users and guests to enjoy the motorsport experience to the fullest, with a privileged view above the pit garages.
