Frederic Vasseur is disappointed after the 2024 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix, but he doesn’t think it’s enough to talk about a crisis at Ferrari. In fact, after the race that saw Carlos Sainz on the podium and Charles Leclerc out of the points due to a first-lap contact with Sergio Perez, the team principal tried to keep spirits high.

“First of all, we had to change the car from Friday to Saturday. During the first day, we had quite a few problems. We adjusted the car’s weaknesses from corner to corner, but overall, the situation is good,” says the Frenchman.

“I think it will be useful for us to have FP1, FP2, and FP3 at Silverstone because this will also help us understand the car better. We will need to do some checks and it is necessary to understand. Anyway, I’m not negative about the performance. We are not that far from everyone else even though today we could have achieved much more.” – the Ferrari team principal pointed out.

“Then again, everyone brings their updates and many things you from the outside don’t even see. We will also have other updates and will implement them later. The most important thing is that we won’t change our approach and will continue to push,” he adds.

The French manager also explains the issue with updates and why it’s not worrisome. “It’s not the first time that when you bring an update to the car, it takes one or two races to see it work. In the last two years, it has been quite often like this.”

The reasons? “When you bring something new, it sometimes happens that not everything goes well immediately. Now the updates are a bit less powerful than they were in the past, and it can happen that you find a deficit in the car’s setup, and you need one or two races to get the update to the top,” Frederic Vasseur concluded at the end of the 2024 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix, which was held earlier today at the 4.318-kilometre Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
