Is Haas VF-25 a preview of new Ferrari SF-25?

Haas has also stepped into the spotlight, taking the new VF-25 to the track. From the few available images, some innovations emerge that could be derived from Ferrari, directly from the SF-25 set to be unveiled tomorrow.
Like McLaren and Williams, Haas has worked intensively on the radiator inlet area, the sidepods, and the rear section of the engine cover. The characteristic “bazooka” volume has been increased, and while maintaining the original concept, the sidepod undercut has been redesigned. The front wing has been refined compared to the version introduced in 2024, while the rear wing now features a new design inspired by the Mercedes W15.
Is the Haas VF-25 derived from the Ferrari SF-25?
Unlike Red Bull and Racing Bulls, Haas appears to have taken some technical distance from Scuderia Ferrari. Unlike the SF-25, the VF-25 will not update its suspension layout, keeping the push-rod configuration. This choice is driven by the team’s preference for a proven solution, avoiding the investment of time and resources in a significant change just one year before the major 2026 regulation overhaul.
Haas has also retained its previous radiator inlet design, confirming the decision not to adopt Ferrari’s solution. The SF-25, however, will feature an evolution of the “shark mouth” tray, with an inverted “L”-shaped air intake. This Ferrari design choice serves a specific aerodynamic purpose: with the shift to a pull-rod suspension, airflow will be directed differently towards the radiator intakes.
It is highly likely that Ferrari will adopt a front wing solution similar to Haas, with the nosecone attached to the mainplane.
Ferrari is also expected to work extensively on the sidepods and engine cover, with a surface redesign that will not differ significantly from what has been seen on the Haas.
Different technical and economic choices
The differences between the two cars mainly stem from two factors: technical capabilities and financial resources. Compared to Ferrari, Haas cannot afford to invest in developing new concepts, especially in a transitional year like 2025. Many teams will stop developing their current cars to focus on the 2026 regulations. As a result, Haas has opted for more conservative and reliable choices, favoring proven solutions over the risk of complex innovations.
