This year, the Scuderia Ferrari HP lineup will consist of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. The arrival of the seven-time World Champion in Italy is a historic moment for Formula 1, but according to some experts, the Maranello team may have bet on the wrong superstar.

As reported by RacingNews365, Dutch driver Tom Coronel believes Ferrari should have approached Max Verstappen before finalizing the deal with the British driver. "Ferrari is always Ferrari. If I were Fred Vasseur, I would have sent a blank check to Max," he stated.

Currently, based on his contract, the Dutchman is tied to Red Bull until the end of the 2028 Formula 1 season. However, last year’s turbulence highlighted that the four-time champion might decide to leave sooner than expected. The internal controversies surrounding Christian Horner have raised questions and led Toto Wolff to register Mercedes’ interest. Besides the German team, Aston Martin also targeted the Austrian squad's star driver, though Max Verstappen ultimately rejected any offers and pledged loyalty to his current team.

However, 2025 will be the last year under the current regulations, meaning that from the following season, the competitive landscape could be completely reshaped. If Horner and his team fail to keep up with their rivals, Verstappen might start looking elsewhere to continue his dominance in Formula 1.
