Lewis Hamilton's first day at Ferrari in Fiorano: all the details and how to follow it
Yesterday at 03:35 PM
At the end of February 2024, Scuderia Ferrari announced that Lewis Hamilton would replace Carlos Sainz to join Charles Leclerc in completing the 2025 driver lineup. Ferrari fans have been eagerly awaiting this moment, and it promises to be unforgettable for enthusiasts. Naturally, the most pressing questions are: what will Lewis's first day be like, and, more importantly, how can it be followed if one cannot be present at Fiorano?
First Day in Red
The title of this section isn't far from the truth, as Lewis Hamilton, despite having memorized all the procedures during the Christmas break, still needs to learn all the secrets of Ferrari. The Briton will have an entire day to familiarize himself with the steering wheel controls, both aggressive and conservative driving phases, and, most importantly, adjust to a cockpit that is entirely different from the Mercedes one he used for 12 years.
Starting early in the morning on January 21, Lewis Hamilton will drive on Ferrari's famous Fiorano test track to address any uncertainties. The test will be part of the TPC (Test Previous Car) program, which for years has allowed teams to help new drivers acclimate or train those already on the roster. Lewis Hamilton will have a total of 1,000 kilometers to cover over four days, choosing between the SF23, F175, and SF21. This mileage limit was reduced following Max Verstappen's controversial test in Imola for purely technical and development-related reasons concerning the RB20.
To follow the event, Ferrari will likely produce footage of the day for YouTube and other social media platforms. However, according to rumors, they might live-stream the Briton's first laps. After the Fiorano test day, Lewis Hamilton is expected to move to Montmeló in Barcelona to complete his initial laps in a less frigid climate than that of Maranello.
