Ferrari’s drought
Ferrari has not won a drivers’ championship since 2007. That joy, as beautiful as it was unexpected, achieved by Kimi Raikkonen, remains the team’s last triumph. The following year, the cycle that began with Michael Schumacher concluded with the Constructors’ Championship.

In these 17 years, the Scuderia has alternated between disappointing seasons and top-tier ones, yet always subordinate to Mercedes and Red Bull, the dominant forces of the turbo-hybrid era. The most significant regret remains Abu Dhabi 2010, a championship Fernando Alonso deserved but lost behind Vitaly Petrov due to a mistaken strategy focused on covering Mark Webber instead of Sebastian Vettel, who eventually became the champion.

Luca Cordero di Montezemolo’s comments
A disappointment that even Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, then president, struggles to recall, except with a brief phrase: “If I think of Fernando Alonso in 2010, I feel sick. A fourth place would have been enough for us,” he said on *La politica nel Pallone*, a program on Rai Radio 1.

The former Ferrari president also commented on the 2024 Formula 1 season, which saw Ferrari fighting until the final curve: “Finally, there is a positive element with Ferrari arriving well-prepared for the last Grand Prix, capable of winning. This year had ups and downs, but they reacted well, fighting for the Constructors’ Championship. In the final race, I was impressed by Lando Norris, but Ferrari has improved significantly. There are the foundations for a good championship next year; let’s hope it’s the right one. Then, in 2026, everything will start from scratch.” – Luca Cordero di Montezemolo concluded.
