Max Verstappen explains why he believes Ferrari is a step ahead of Red Bull and McLaren

Max Verstappen knows that Ferrari now poses a threat to both him and Red Bull, as well as to McLaren. Following an excellent performance in Austin, the Maranello team has already shown a lot in Mexico. Not only did Carlos Sainz take pole position right in front of the Dutchman, but both Ferrari drivers also demonstrated a significantly better race pace.
According to the Dutchman, Ferrari currently outperforms its rivals in a specific area that could ultimately help them in the championship battle. After settling for second place in the Mexico qualifying, he elaborated on what advantage Ferrari seems to have over its competitors.
Why Does Ferrari Currently Seem Better Than Red Bull?
“We have a bit more balance after the latest updates. However, the problem is that we are still struggling with the curbs and bumps. At those points, the car bounces too much, especially compared to Ferrari. Ferrari is clearly the best on the curbs and undulations; they have good stability,” the Dutchman explains ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix.
However, McLaren also has some very strong points. “On the other hand, McLaren really has a lot of grip. They may not be the best on the curbs, but they have an incredible balance in slow and medium-fast corners that we cannot yet replicate.”
Red Bull is now at risk of losing not only the Constructors’ Championship but also second place. Ferrari is now only 8 points behind and seems to be the only team capable of keeping up with McLaren in the Constructors’ Championship battle.
Moreover, Red Bull is struggling to resolve these issues that are putting them at a significant disadvantage compared to their rivals. In short, the crisis of the world champion team is becoming increasingly evident, while Ferrari appears to have resolved many of its problems. Or so it seems.
