Monza nearing renewal with Formula 1
The Italian Grand Prix in Formula 1 is set to remain on the calendar at least until 2030. The five-year renewal between ACI Sport, the Monza circuit, and F1 under Liberty Media's management is reportedly nearing completion. According to information obtained by the Italian website FormulaPassion.it, negotiations for the new contract are progressing well, and an official announcement is expected soon.
Crucial work completed in 2024
It is no secret — as reiterated several times by the president and CEO of the GP circus, Stefano Domenicali — that Monza's ability to renew its contract with F1 beyond the current agreement's expiration (set for 2025) hinged on the successful completion of modernization work on certain structures at the Autodromo Nazionale, with some improvements continuing into this winter.
Key projects included the construction of a new underpass to separate vehicular and pedestrian traffic, as well as resurfacing the track. These upgrades were completed ahead of the 2024 Italian GP and received positive feedback from the World Championship organizers. Monza is thus expected to secure its place on the calendar for the coming years, avoiding the previously announced rotation of European races, which could instead affect the Imola circuit.
