On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, the official announcement was made: the Belgian GP has renewed its agreement with F1, and Spa-Francorchamps will remain on the calendar at least until 2031.

After months of uncertainty, the historic Belgian race had repeatedly been called into question. Now, after the holiday season, Formula One has announced the fate of the event in the Ardennes: the Circus will return at least four more times to the winding curves of the Spa-Francorchamps track.

The extension of the Belgian GP’s contract at Spa-Francorchamps on the F1 calendar is now official. Fans can count on the Belgian Grand Prix being held until 2031, but it is not the only update.

F1 calendar: Spa will be a rotating GP
The renewal of the agreement between the Belgian GP and F1 also includes a new element for the competition. After numerous discussions, Formula One has extended Spa’s contract, but it will be a “rotating” agreement. The Belgian race will not be on the calendar in 2028 and 2030, as it will be replaced by other events.

The Formula One schedule will feature the Ardennes weekend in 2026, 2027, 2029, and 2031.

Stefano Domenicali explained the decision: “The Belgian GP is one of the races present in the first World Championship in 1950. As we begin our 75th year, we want to announce this important renewal.” – the former Ferrari team principal pointed out.

“Spa is a circuit truly appreciated by drivers and fans, who consider it one of the best tracks in the world,” the Italian manager explained. “In recent years, significant work has been done to improve the infrastructure and the fan experience. I would therefore like to thank the event promoters and the Walloon government for their dedication and support for F1.”
