Next weekend, Oliver Bearman will be back in the Ferrari SF-24. The British driver, who will compete in the 2025 World Championship with Haas, will have the opportunity to take to the track during the FP1 session of the Mexican Grand Prix, driving the car with which he made his first Formula 1 race appearance.

Last March, Ollie Bearman was called in at the last minute during the Jeddah weekend to replace Carlos Sainz, who was unable to race due to a severe appendicitis attack. In Saudi Arabia, Oliver took part in the third free practice session, then in qualifying and the race, finishing in seventh place.

Six months later, Oliver Bearman will once again be in the SF-24 for the sixty minutes of FP1 that will kick off the weekend at the Hermanos Rodriguez circuit, taking over from Charles Leclerc. Ferrari, McLaren, and Aston Martin are the only three teams that have yet to put a rookie on track for the two FP1 sessions required by the sporting regulations. Of the remaining five races, two have sprint formats (Brazil and Qatar), while Las Vegas, like all street circuits, doesn't allow teams to take an hour of practice away from a main driver.

Therefore, the forced choice falls on Mexico and Abu Dhabi weekends. Aston Martin will field Felipe Drugovich, while McLaren is expected to give Pato O'Ward the opportunity next weekend, with the decision on who will drive in Yas Marina yet to be made. Among the teams with an FP1 session still to complete is Mercedes, which will run Andrea Kimi Antonelli in Mexico, while Sauber will put Robert Shwartzman on track.
