Ralf Schumacher sparks speculation: could Max Verstappen join Ferrari in the future?

Could Max Verstappen one day join Ferrari? The idea is not entirely far-fetched, at least according to Ralf Schumacher. The former Formula 1 driver suggested that, although the Dutchman has a contract with Red Bull until 2028, alternative scenarios for his future cannot be ruled out.
Max Verstappen has been the face of Red Bull since 2016, the year he was promoted to the main team at just 18 years old. With four world titles to his name and an apparently solid position of dominance, the possibility of a departure seems distant. However, the driver market is always in motion, and speculation about a potential separation between the three-time world champion and the Austrian team has been circulating for some time.
Among Max Verstappen's future options, Ralf Schumacher pointed to Aston Martin as a concrete possibility, especially given the recent acquisition of Adrian Newey, the brilliant designer who played a decisive role in Red Bull's success. However, the former driver also mentioned Ferrari as a destination that should not be ruled out.
"If he goes to Aston Martin, it would make sense. But if he stays at Red Bull longer, Ferrari could also be a possibility. Nothing can be ruled out in Formula 1." – the former Williams driver pointed out.
Mercedes, which in the past has shown interest in Max Verstappen, seems like a less likely option. Toto Wolff openly courted the Dutchman last year, but uncertainties regarding the team's technical direction and the stability of the current driver lineup could hinder a potential signing. "Mercedes still doesn't know which direction to take with car development. If their drivers work well together, Wolff might not want to sacrifice either of them, also for financial reasons. And Verstappen is not exactly cheap," Ralf Schumacher noted.
While the Aston Martin scenario appears more realistic in the short term, the allure of Ferrari remains strong for any driver. If the Prancing Horse returns to the top and has a seat available in the future, why wouldn't Max Verstappen be tempted by a new challenge?
