Red Bull loses ground, and Formula 1 is grateful? After the recent shift in performance from the Austrian team, the top officials in the sport have noticed a significant increase in ticket sales for race weekends. The on-track battles, along with numerous plot twists, have motivated many F1 fans to leave their couches and head to the circuits. Organizers of the United States Grand Prix in Austin have confirmed that ticket sales have surged in recent weeks, as the 2024 Formula 1 season becomes increasingly competitive.

At the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), there will be a large turnout this year, thanks to the new sprint race and the Eminem concert scheduled for Saturday of the American race weekend. A record attendance is expected, particularly on Saturday. COTA officials have also admitted that Max Verstappen‘s lack of recent victories is helping with ticket sales: “Our ticket sales really took off when Max stopped winning and became less competitive. So, I give a lot of credit to our fan base and the public; they are paying attention, and I think it's exciting to see the season taking shape this way,” said one of the promoters, Bobby Epstein.

Adding to the typical excitement of the Austin Grand Prix weekend this year is the Saturday night clash between the local Texas Longhorns and the Georgia Bulldogs, a heavyweight match between two of the best college football teams in the country, which will attract another 100,000 fans to the DKR Texas Memorial Stadium, just north of downtown Austin. “I think it's a double opportunity. One for college football fans who love sports and big events. For those who love both, they can enjoy the game on Saturday and the race on Sunday,” he concluded. For the United States Grand Prix at the 5.513-kilometre Circuit of The Americas in Austin, the off-track entertainment won't be lacking—will it be the same on the track? We'll find out in a few weeks.
