Red Bull technical director launches attack on Ferrari and McLaren: "They are using the mini-DRS"

The mini-DRS
Last year, the International Federation intervened to ban the mini-DRS used by McLaren, which aimed to reduce aerodynamic drag and increase top speed by exploiting the deformation at the sides of the movable flap at high speeds, thus replicating the DRS effect with obvious gains.

The suspicion during testing
The outlet The Race gathered some paddock rumors, which drew attention to certain teams that, according to video footage, displayed a rather suspicious flexibility in their rear wings. Specifically, two aspects were observed: one was the backward rotation of the entire wing structure, and the other—more similar to McLaren's 2024 version—acted in a straight line on the space at the sides of the movable flap.

Red Bull’s technical director, Pierre Waché, pointed the finger at two teams in particular: "I think Ferrari and McLaren are still using the mini-DRS." As highlighted by The Race, it's likely that, right before the first GP in Australia, the matter will be examined by the teams and discussed with the Federation. Pierre Waché confirms: "It will be a topic of debate, it's quite visible."
