The Spa-Francorchamps circuit is preparing for major renovation work, with the goal of enhancing the experience for fans, staff, and drivers. These projects, which will begin in January 2025, include the construction of a new tower, a panoramic walkway, a welcome center, and a new medical center. The renovations, 70% funded by the circuit itself, are part of a €40 million investment plan through 2028. This is a revolution for Spa Francorchamps, which, with the works, will make room for many new features.
Amaury Bertholomé, the circuit's general manager, describes the new tower as an opportunity to accommodate more people and services. “We will rebuild a taller and larger tower, which will be much more welcoming for spectators,” says Amaury Bertholomé. “On the ground floor and the first floor, there will be a professional simulation center.”
The new project also includes a walkway that will connect the fans' area with the Paddock zone, offering a unique view. “This walkway will give a completely new perspective, allowing spectators to see the Raidillon and La Source,” explains Élisabeth Guillaume, technical director and works manager.
The Ster entrance will also undergo significant changes, with the construction of a porch at the level of Ferme Foguenne. Guillaume clarifies, “It will be a true welcome center, with tourist information and a point aimed at receiving spectators year-round.” By June 2025, a state-of-the-art medical center will be inaugurated. “It will be located away from the paddocks, making it easier to access for emergency services,” emphasizes Guillaume. This center will host patients in case of need and include new areas to improve service for spectators.
Finally, a permanent shop is planned next to the “L’Arbre qui Tue” bar, along with a pedestrian avenue to enhance fan safety. “This avenue will allow spectators to enjoy the experience in complete safety,” adds the project manager. The old press room will be replaced by a panoramic terrace, and a new campsite will be set up for the marshals.
The works, which will last about 18 months, will ensure that Spa-Francorchamps becomes an even more welcoming, safe, and innovative space for all its visitors.
