Starting next Formula 1 season, Lewis Hamilton will no longer drive for Mercedes but will join Charles Leclerc at Ferrari. Recently, Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali spoke about this topic in an interview for the Italian daily newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport. The former Ferrari team principal said he was pleased with the decision made by the British driver and is confident that Lewis Hamilton will do everything possible to win his eighth Formula 1 world title. Below are his comments.

Stefano Domenicali’s words

Stefano Domenicali stated: “I'm speaking as a Ferrari fan. This is an extraordinary opportunity because Lewis is a central figure. He wants to take home the eighth title and become the greatest of all time. There will need to be respect with Charles, but it's clear that when the visor goes down… In any case, team rules and management must be clear.” – the Italian manager explained.

Moving to Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton's replacement is the young Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli. However, the Italian driver will not be the only new face on the grid, as Ferrari junior Oliver Bearman and Jack Doohan have also been officially confirmed. Stefano Domenicali, commenting on the sudden rise of young drivers in Formula 1, said he was very pleased and eager to see the different personalities on the grid: “There are many young drivers, and what I like is that each one has their own personality. We are in a fortunate phase; drivers are not an issue. The energy of young talent is vital for us, and what F1 needs to do is move beyond its self-referentiality. I want to see different faces on the grid.” – the Formula 1 chief executive officer concluded.
