Susie Wolff gives verdict on Lewis Hamilton's F1 move to Ferrari: "An iconic moment"

Scottish former professional racing driver and current managing director of F1 Academy, Susie Wolff, knows that what will happen to Lewis Hamilton next season will certainly be iconic for all of motorsport, despite the fact that it is also the result of a historic farewell. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion’s move to Ferrari marks the end of his working relationship with Mercedes and the Wolffs. However, this does not erase all that has happened in the past.

We have been used to seeing Lewis Hamilton with Toto Wolff for a long time, but the relationship with Susie Wolff is probably even stronger and has deeper roots. The two drivers have known each other for a long time and have often crossed paths throughout their careers.

Lewis Hamilton has been one of the biggest supporters of Susie Wolff’s F1 Academy project, and it's worth noting how they have always been connected since their karting days when they were both very young.

"Lewis has always looked out for me during our karting days," Susie Wolff shared on the podcast *The Red Flags*, hosted by Gunther Steiner. "Once, I couldn't open the champagne, so he had to help me by opening it for me. We have always been very close. Our friendship means a lot to me." – she pointed out.

Lewis Hamilton’s arrival at Ferrari is certainly something special. "I won't hide the fact that I'm sad because his journey with Mercedes is ending, but I'm fully aware that seeing Lewis in a Ferrari suit will definitely be an iconic moment for all of motorsport. I believe that Lewis is someone who deserves everything he has achieved and has always done a lot for the sport and beyond. He has brought culture and style to F1; his impact has certainly been strong. Not to mention everything he shows on the track, which doesn't need much commentary. My admiration for him is immense," concluded Toto Wolff’s wife.
