For Carlos Sainz, it was the last time at Monza as a Ferrari driver, and because of this, he was keen to finish on the podium. In the days leading up to the race, number 55 had spoken about victory as a realistic goal to achieve. The win didn’t come, but the Spaniard can be satisfied with what he did on track.

Carlos Sainz speaks as a team player. And about Ferrari…
“We did everything possible to win,” said Carlos Sainz at the end of the Monza GP won by Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari. “I’m glad the team took the risk, in the end, it worked, and we managed to secure a victory that was difficult to predict.”

“99% of the victory is Charles’ merit. He won a race that was difficult to win,” added the Spaniard. “When everyone stopped very early, I thought they were all going for two stops. I was the only one who went long with the medium tires to have the chance to stop only once.” – he pointed out.

“Maybe in those laps, I lost a bit too much time, which cost me the podium. Honestly, I’m happy I tried, and the important thing is that the strategy worked for the team.”

Carlos Sainz then commented on what was his last Monza as a driver for the Scuderia. “Experiencing Monza for four years as a Ferrari driver has been incredible. Even though I’m not on the podium celebrating today, I am very happy for all of Ferrari.” – the Spanish driver concluded at the end of the 2024 Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
