It has been seventeen years since the last World Championship victory for the Prancing Horse. As the 2025 World Championship begins, Ferrari hopes to win a title in F1 once again, thanks in part to the excitement generated by the arrival of Lewis Hamilton alongside home driver, “Mr. Ferrari,” Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque driver now appears ready for the big step but will have to overcome tough competitors, starting with his multi-world champion teammate.

In the first “Media Day” of the season, the Monegasque driver outlined his goals for the upcoming championship. Ferrari doesn't arrive as the absolute favorite in Australia, but it will aim to challenge the McLaren duo, the early favorite.

Overwhelmed by expectations and excitement following Sir Lewis’s arrival, Ferrari returned to the shadows after the Bahrain tests. The SF-25 didn't particularly impress in Sakhir, but that doesn't imply any reduction in their goals.

Ferrari’s bold stance: Charles Leclerc wants the championship
Charles Leclerc doesn’t hide it; the championship is Ferrari's target for the 2025 F1 season. “I don't know yet what the level is, but the word ‘championship’ must be used because that is our goal,” explained the 1997-born driver on Thursday in Australia.

There is confidence in Maranello, as the new car has several improvements over its predecessor. Charles Leclerc is certain that the path they are on will be fruitful: “I'm confident we have found the right direction to take and where to push.”

Charles Leclerc warns the fans: “It’s not about the starting point, but the finish”
Developments throughout the season will be crucial, and at Maranello, they trust that the SF-25 will have a wide window for upgrades. The 24-race calendar will be long and exhausting, and it is unlikely to be decided in the first few races.

In this regard, Charles Leclerc wanted to remind his fans of a valuable lesson: “The championship is our goal, regardless of the starting point. We want the finish line to be the championship.” – the Monegasque driver pointed out ahead of the Albert Park weekend in Australia.

Is this a warning not to expect too much from Ferrari in the early races? A hope for effective developments during the season? The #16 driver knows the value of his on-track rivals but appears strongly determined and confident that the SF-25 will be increasingly competitive over time, similar to McLaren's performance last season.
