After two difficult years in World Superbikes and struggling with injuries in 2022 and 2023 Michael van der Mark returned to the podium in 2024.
The 2024 World Superbike season was Michael van der Marks's 10th season in the Championship. It was also the Dutch rider's fourth year with BMW after joining them in 2021.
Throughout the 2022 and 2023 World Superbike seasons van der Mark missed 27 races. The Dutch rider broke his leg multiple times and ended the two difficult seasons in 15th and 17th in the standings.
But the 2024 season was a comeback year for the 32-year-old who began to fight at the front once again.
In 2024 van der Mark made his return to a World Superbike podium for the first time since the 2022 season. The BMW rider won his first race since 2021 when he won a wet Race One at Magny-Cours, he claimed one other podium as he finished third in the final race of the year in Jerez.
Van der Mark proved to be a consistent rider in the 2024 season as he clinched sixth in the Championship. There were only seven races last season where van der Mark was not in the top ten at the end of the race.
His achievements throughout the 2024 season may have been overlooked due to his teammate's success. However, he has been a crucial part of BMW's development throughout the last few seasons. In 2025 van der Mark will remain with the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team.
