After competing in the Dakar, Danilo Petrucci will be back on two-wheel's this week in Jerez.
Danilo Petrucci's 2024 winter break was cut short by his brief stint at the Dakar. But the Barni Spark Racing Team rider will be back on two wheels this week in Jerez for a two-day World Superbike Test.
The Italian will be entering his third year in the World Superbike class with the Barni Spark Racing Team. The 2024 season was a breakthrough year for Petrucci as he ended the year in fifth with three race wins and seven further podiums.
With plenty of experience on the Ducati Panigale V4 R under his belt, Petrucci wants to challenge in 2025. The 34-year-old has labelled the opening tests of the year in Jerez and Portimao as 'fundamental' moments for his 2025 season.
"Finally back on the bike, even if for me the break was short," Petrucci stated.
"I had to anticipate the physical preparation and I never stopped training. The adventure with the Dakar ended early, but this gave me the opportunity to spend some time at home and rest before the tests.
"This year will be the third season with the Barni Spark team, a team in which I have full confidence, especially in light of last year's results. The tests in Jerez and Portimão will be fundamental to break the ice and evaluate our state of form."
Petrucci will be joined by his new teammate, Yari Montella, in the Barni Spark Racing Team garage this week. The two Italian's will join forces for the first time and could take the Italian team to new heights in World Superbikes.
