"I believe in the BMW project" - Scott Redding on Bonovo WorldSBK deal

Scott Redding has expressed his relief at getting a deal done to remain with BMW for the 2024 WorldSBK Championship despite being elected as the rider to switch from the factory ROKiT set-up to the satellite Bonovo Action team.
Redding's seat in the Shaun Muir Racing operation had been under threat following BMW's coup signing of Toprak Razgatlioglu was announced in May with the German firm left to decide whether to hold onto the Briton or team-mate Michael van der Mark.
Though Redding's results have broadly been stronger than van der Mark's since joining forces in 2022, the Dutchman has been hampered by a series of serious injuries in that time.
As such, BMW have decided to hold onto van der Mark for the ROKiT team, while Redding instead switches to the sister Bonovo Action outfit alongside Garrett Gerloff on a two-year deal.
Regardless, after months of speculation, Redding is pleased to have his future in WorldSBK assured.
"Finally I can give an answer, but yeah a done deal to stay with BMW for two more years, which is very important to me, and again I believe in the project.
"It's coming, but it's taking a bit of time, so the situation is to be in Bonovo, which I'm excited about, there are some great people there and there is a great atmosphere there so I am not worried from that side.
"To be honest, I'm very happy because staying in WorldSBK is quite difficult for any rider at the moment because many riders are coming through, so I am happy to join forces at the other side of the garage."
Though BMW has struggled to close the gap down on Ducati, Kawasaki and Yamaha at times, Redding remains convinced the BMW M 1000 RR is making progress.
"This year has been quite difficult, just in general the pace of the field is fast and the other manufacturers are pushing all the time. There have been some big changes at BMW this year that we can see those steps coming next year, I feel the momentum is coming which is good."
