The Portimao World Superbike Test has left Sam Lowes in high spirits ahead of the second round of the season.
Sam Lowes and the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team carried on their good momentum from Phillip Island to the two-day Portimao World Superbike Test.
The British rider had a positive start to his second year in the Superbike class at the opening round of the season. Lowes finished 10th in Race One, before collecting two solid results on Sunday as he finished fifth in the Superpole Race and sixth in Race Two.
Lowes missed the World Superbike Round at Portimao in 2024 due to injuries he sustained at Most. However, he was happy with his work at the track after his latest visit.
"It was good! I felt ok on the bike today, we're making good improvements day by day with the race configuration," Lowes said.
"Rather than testing new parts, we're testing different settings with suspension and other things with different race tyres so that was the main thing.
"Unfortunately, only 50 laps today and similar in Day One so still not the ideal test, we didn't get as many laps as we normally would."
Looking ahead to the second round of the 2025 World Superbike Championship Lowes had a positive mindset and believes he can collect more good results.
"We have the race weekend in two weeks, so it was important to get the work done, I'd say things are positive, my pace on race tyres is pretty ok," Lowes said.
"We still have some area to improve but things are looking positive ahead of the race weekend and I feel like we can do a good job.
"I feel like we've done a good test and we've analyzed well what we needed to and from here there's still plenty we can learn from looking at the data and the video footage.
"Overall it was positive, no drama and a big thank you to the team for a great job, now a week off then back to it!"
