'I hope he can give me some tricks in World Superbikes' - Montella discusses his relationship with his future teammate Danilo Petrucci

In 2025 Yari Montella will debut in the World Superbike Championship alongside veteran rider, Danilo Petrucci.
Yari Montella attended his first EICMA as a World Superbike rider last week. The Barni Spark Racing rider will debut in World Superbikes in 2025 after challenging for the World Supersport Championship in 2024.
Until the penultimate round the Italian could have won the 2024 World Supersport Championship. However, the Ducati rider finished the season in third place in the standings.
"We were missing something at the end," Montella said when asked about his title fight. "We had two crashes which impacted our fight for the title. In the end, it was a great year. I am so happy and proud of the work that we did, and it is something that I think I can understand for next year."
Montella will share a garage with Danilo Petrucci in the 2025 World Superbike season. The World Superbike rookie hopes his veteran teammate will aid him next season.
"I hope he can give me some tricks in World Superbikes," Montella said when asked about Petrucci. "But I don't know, in these two years that we were more or less teammates, we were in different categories. We never worked together, we will see, but I expect him to be a friend.
"I will always be his rival, and he will always be mine. But I expect a great ambience in the team and the box because we are two great guys. In the team there is a great atmosphere that I hope we do not break."
In the 2024 World Superbike season rookie rider, Nicolo Bulega finished his first season in second place. Montella was asked if he could have a season like his compatriot but explained that it is 'not easy' to do so.
"I hope I can make a season like him," Montella said when asked about Bulega's 2024 season. "It is not easy. We are talking about two different categories and two different motorbikes. I need to understand a lot of things, like the electronics on the bike. I need to manage the tyre in a different way, so many things will be different next year compared to this one. I hope to understand as soon as possible and fight for great positions next year."
