The bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team looks sharp ahead of the 2025 season opener with Alex Lowes fighting at the front in the Phillip Island Test.

Alex Lowes continues to spearhead Bimota's return to the World Superbike Championship at the Phillip Island Test.

The British rider ended the day in sixth place during the opening day of the Australia World Superbike Test. Phillip Island is the third track that Lowes has tested the KB998 at and continues to speak highly of his latest machine.

"It was good, I am really happy to be let's say, not in the mix with the Ducati guys, but not too bad," Lowes told WorldSBK.com after the opening day of the test.

"First day here with the Bimota, the character of the bike was a lot different than what I rode in the past. Maybe more than I expected, this is the third track that I have tried the bike at and there are some big differences that I need to understand.

"But I feel like I did a good day, I was riding quite well. I enjoyed it which is the main thing. I felt like a kid in the first few laps, when you come over Lukey Heights, you've got your elbow on the floor and the bikes sliding, I was definitely enjoying it.

"Now we need to work hard to improve the small details to close the gap to the front guys."

Lowes was asked what his testing plan will look like for the second day of the Phillip Island Test. The #22 confirmed that he has nothing major to test and will focus on bike setup.

"Today we were trying parts, there were a few different parts to try. Different swingarm's in the back, back-to-back. We are still trying new stuff on the bike, everything is so new.

"Tomorrow I will try to focus a bit more on track-specifics and some different electronics. We will have a good debrief tonight with a lot of data from today.

"The target for tomorrow is to set the Bimota up for this track and that's it, nothing more than that."
