Andrea Iannone discussed his rookie World Superbike season at EICMA after his MotoGP return in Malaysia.
Off the back of competing in the Malaysian Grand Prix, Andrea Iannone attended EICMA in Milan.
Iannone spoke to WorldSBK.com about his experience in Malaysia and his return to MotoGP.
"I feel more relaxed here than in Malaysia," Iannone said. "The temperature here is cooler and fresher, in Malaysia it is really hot. But I am really lucky because I got to ride the MotoGP bike one more time, and it was really emotional. It was a really good time and experience in Malaysia."
After discussing his weekend in MotoGP the Italian was asked about his 2024 World Superbike season. 'The Maniac' returned to motorbike racing in 2024 as he became a World Superbike rookie at the age of 34.
Iannone proved that his talent had never left on his return to World Superbikes as he stood on the podium at Phillip Island. Later in the year Iannone became a race winner once again as he took victory in Aragon.
"We had a really great year in 2024, race by race we improved at least a little bit," Iannone explained. "We arrived in Jerez and had an incredible fight in Race Two. So, I think it is impossible to ask for more in my first year in World Superbikes. For next year the ambition is to do more, this winter I will work at 100% and improve on what I learned. I want to arrive at Phillip Island at 110%, but for sure the team need to improve a lot."
With the 2024 World Superbike season over attention has turned to the 2025 season, which starts in February. Iannone explained what his test schedule looked like before Phillip Island in 2025.
"I think we start in January," Iannone stated. "I hope we start well. I hope 2025 will be a good year for us. I hope we improve in every area, this is the goal and the target. But we will see."
After an impressive 2024 World Superbike season Iannone believes it would be difficult to improve in 2025.
"I don't know it will not be easy to improve on my comeback last year," Iannone said when asked whether his 2025 season will be better than the 2024 season. "I came back and I was immediately on the podium in second. So to improve next year we need to win, which is always very difficult but we need to try to improve."
