"We have to fight for podiums every weekend..."

The 2025 World Superbike Championship will be Michael van der Mark's fifth year with BMW. Out of the first four years, the Dutch rider had two strong years and two difficult years as he suffered with injuries.

BMW has been on an upward trajectory since the arrival of Toprak Razgatlioglu in 2024. The standout result for BMW last year was their Championship win, but van der Mark also finished in sixth in the standings.

Ahead of the 2025 season, the Dutch rider has revealed his expectations for his fifth year with BMW.

"We have to fight for podiums every weekend," van der Mark told WorldSBK.com following the recent test in Portimao.

"This is our goal and target, this is also something we should be able to do."

The 2025 World Superbike preseason testing was a tricky period for the riders and teams who participated. The adverse weather conditions did not allow the majority of riders to complete their full testing schedule.

Speaking after the second day in Portimao, van der Mark said: "[Wednesday] wasn't fantastic, honestly. It was a shame about the weather but it is what it is.

"Luckily we could use half a day. We just checked the bike and the bike seems to be working."
