After a return to Valentino Rossi's Ranch, Nicolo Bulega discussed his relationship with 'The Doctor'.
Nicolo Bulega is into his first World Superbike offseason, during his time off he returned to Valentino Rossi's Ranch.
The Italian left the VR46 Riders Academy after the 2019 Moto2 World Championship before he joined Gresini in 2020. Bulega then switched to the World Supersport in 2022, before winning the title in 2023.
Bulega has since found his feet in World Superbikes as in his rookie season he fought for the title. The 25-year-old won six races and stood on 24 podiums with the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati. But he finished second in the standings behind BMW's, Toprak Razgatlioglu.
"It had been six years since I was last at the Ranch," Bulega told GPOne.com. "Flat track is a sport in which you need consistency, and it's difficult to be competitive if you don't train. It's a bit like riding a bike. You don't forget how to do it, but you miss the automatism.
"It was a great fun day. In fact, there were a lot of guys. If I am not mistaken, I was fifth in the Americana. When I was in the academy, I remember going fast at the ranch. I haven't forgotten about the flat track. I just have to get my automatism back."
When Bulega left the VR46 Riders Academy there was talk about why the Italian left 'The Doctor'. Many believed there was a personal rift between management and Bulega. However, he clarified his relationship with Rossi after his visit to The Ranch.
"On social media, people write many wrong things, which have nothing to do with it," Bulega explained.
"People don't know the background, but I can say that I have a great relationship with Valentino Rossi. The same goes for Uccio, since we stayed up talking almost until midnight. On track, Vale is still very fast. I didn't beat him, but the important thing is that it was a great, fun day."
