Toprak Razgatlioglu returned to the top step of the podium after a head-to-head fight with Nicolo Bulega.

After labelling World Superbikes as a 'Ducati Cup' after the opening round of the season, Toprak Razgatlioglu has claimed his first win of the season. After a titanic battle, the Turkish rider is back on the top step with BMW.

Nicolo Bulega did the triple in Australia but was unable to beat Razgatlioglu in Race One at Portimao. The Championship leader crossed the line in second place, less than 0.1 seconds behind the reigning Champion.

Yamaha returned to a World Superbike podium as Andrea Locatelli finished in third place. The Pata Maxus Yamaha WorldSBK rider has super concessions for this weekend and is back at the front.

Danilo Petrucci missed out on a podium but secured a solid fourth place as he has been riding through considerable pain.

Xavi Vierge took Honda back inside the top five as he ended the opening race of the weekend in fifth.

The second BMW rider on the World Superbike grid, Michael van der Mark, crossed the line in sixth place.

After a four-way fight with the riders behind him, Andrea Iannone was able to finish Race One in seventh.

GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK rider, Dominique Aegerter, ended the opening race of the weekend in eighth.

The top bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team rider was Axel Bassani as he finished the race in ninth.

Completing the top ten was Remy Gardner, who slipped back from eighth to tenth on the last lap.

British riders Tarran Mackenzie and Ryan Vickers missed out on the top ten. However, Mackenzie scored points as he finished in 14th, but Vickers crossed the line in 16th.
