Toprak Razgatlioglu smashed the all-time lap record at Portimao and claimed pole position.

From the end of his first flying lap, Toprak Razgatlioglu had secured pole position at Portimao. The Turkish rider destroyed the lap record at the Portuguese circuit and has a clear advantage over the Ducati riders.

The title contenders will start first and second, with Nicolo Bulega starting from the middle of the front row. The World Championship leader has been struggling at Portimao but put in a lap time when it mattered.

Danilo Petrucci will start from third place on the grid on his Barni Spark Racing Team Ducati Panigale V4 R. The Italian rider is in considerable pain, but has shown his speed at Portimao.

Andrea Locatelli put his Yamaha R1 into fourth place and will start from the head of the second row. The Italian rider is the top non-Ducati rider in the standings, but that could change this weekend.

The top British rider on the grid is Sam Lowes from the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team. Lowes will start from fifth place in the middle of the second row for his first race at Portimao as a Superbike rider.

Xavi Vierge was the top Honda rider in the Superpole session as he qualified in sixth place. The Spaniard is the only Honda rider inside the top ten on the grid.

Michael van der Mark will start from the head of the third row in seventh on his ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK machine.

GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK rider, Dominique Aegerter, will start from eighth place on the grid.

Alvaro Bautista will start from the back of the third row of the grid in ninth place, as he qualifying troubles continue.

Completing the top ten on the grid is Remy Gardner on the GYTR GRT Yamaha.

British riders, Scott Redding, Ryan Vickers, Tarran Mackenzie and Alex Lowes did not manage to qualify inside the top ten. Redding will start from 15th, Vickers qualified in 19th, Mackenzie will start in 20th and Lowes lost his best lap time due to yellow flags so will start from the back of the grid.
