Scott Redding is eyeing up a return to the podium at Portimao

Could Scott Redding make his long-awaited return to a World Superbike podium this weekend at Portimao?
It has been over two years since Scott Redding last featured on a World Superbike podium. However, the British rider is targeting a return to the rostrum this weekend at Portimao.
Redding returned to Ducati for 2025 and had a positive start to the season at Phillip Island. The MGM Bonovo rider finished in fifth, fourth and fourth across the three races in Australia.
But now that the World Superbike paddock is back in Europe, he is ready to fight in the top three.
"This weekend in Portimao the goal is to try and get on the podium," Redding told WorldSBK.com.
"The top five is always our goal, but here is a circuit that is a little bit more difficult for me. I have had some good results, but it is a track I find difficult. I normally do better in the race, so I need to keep that in mind.
"I would have liked a bit more testing here because in pre-season, it was one day or half a day with the rain. I don't know how I will go here, and my bike is completely different to when I was here last.
"Again, Scott Redding is going into the unknown and I will do my best."
The majority of the World Superbike field were at Portimao two weeks ago for a test. However, Redding and his team were not at the circuit and missed out on further experience.
Although Redding believes everyone is still starting from zero, he would have liked some further test days on his bike to trial new parts.
"A little bit, but I try to take it out of my mind and pretend that nobody has been here testing," Redding explained when he was asked if he is on the back foot after missing the Portimao Test.
"It would have been nice to have a test, whether it was here or somewhere else. I am missing some test days and I feel that I need a good two days to try some stuff on the bike.
"Now I am doing it in the race weekend which is not ideal, it would have been nice to come last week, but we didn't, so in my head nobody came here."
