Mia Rusthen, who was competing at the inaugural WorldWCR round at Misano during the Emilia-Romagna Round of WorldSBK, has been transferred to her home country after spending over a week in hospital in Italy.

Rusthen crashed at turn 16 during the first race on Saturday, which brought out the red flag and eventually forced the inaugural WorldWCR race to be shifted from its late-morning slot to the end of the day.

The race was eventually won by former Moto3 racer Maria Herrera, who also won Race 2 on Sunday, but Rusthen's crash had left her with brain swelling, for which she was successfully operated on and placed in an artificial coma after being transferred to Maurizio Bufalini Hospital in Italy.

The Norwegian rider remained in the Italian hospital until last weekend. It had been communicated by Rusthen's family early last week that a plan to return her to Norway was being developed.

The most recent update from Rusthen's family, posted on 23 June, has confirmed that she was transferred from Italy to Norway, and the Neurointensive Ullevål intensive care unit, over the weekend, but that she remains in a coma.

The update reads: "Mia has now been safely transported to Norway. Mia receives the best and most competent care at Neurointensive Ullevål, a surgical intensive care unit which is affiliated with the country's largest trauma centre.

"Mia is still in a coma, but she has stable and good vitals and is showing more and more signs that she is fighting and that she is so strong."
