With General Motors electric vehicles gaining Tesla Supercharger access for the first time, drivers of EVs across the manufacturers’ many brands are feeling the benefits of a widely available charging infrastructure.

Owners of the Chevy Bolt EV and EUV are talking about feeling a lack of worry about range “for the first time” since owning their car, some of them said in their early experiences with Tesla Supercharger access.

GM became the most recent automaker to gain access to the network as Tesla opened up the stalls for their EVs in late September.

Joining Ford and Rivian, GM EV owners now have exclusive access to what is a widely expansive charging infrastructure, which not only increases the ease of ownership but also makes long-distance traveling easier, and makes charging less of a worry thanks to Tesla’s tremendous uptime.

One owner said to Business Insider:

“My experience at the Supercharger was always smooth sailing; I’ve driven plenty of non-Tesla EVs in the past, and access to fast and reliable charging has always been my main challenge. For the first time with an electric Chevrolet, I didn’t worry once about range.”

Before Supercharger access, GM EVs were able to use charging piles from Blink Charging, ChargePoint, EVgo, and FLO, offering thousands of locations across the United States.

However, that number as increased considerably as GM can now access 17,800 different Tesla Supercharger stalls across the U.S. and Canada.

Traditionally, EV owners have used home charging to alleviate a lot of their concerns about range. However, this is not a factor during long-distance trips, where a solid, consistent, and reliable EV charging infrastructure is truly crucial to the ownership experience.
