The Tesla AI team successfully rolled out Full Self-Driving (FSD) V13 to limited external customers before November ended. Amidst the release of the highly-anticipated update, a number of Tesla employees shared some insights about the newest FSD (Supervised) build.

The FSD (Supervised) V13 release notes show that the update features several key improvements compared to its previous iterations. While the V13 build seems optimized for AI4 vehicles for now, the update's improvements are substantial, as noted by Tesla Autopilot Engineer Arek Sredzki, who noted that the system's end-to-end network now allows vehicles to take their occupants from Park to Park (P2P).

That's a substantial update for FSD (Supervised) V13, and it is something that effectively makes Full Self-Driving (Supervised) the most advanced driver assist suite available to consumers today. Even the most ardent Tesla critic, after all, would find it difficult to argue against the legitimacy of a system that takes vehicles from Park to Park.

Tesla AI team member Yun-ta Tsai also noted that FSD V13 is "probably one of the biggest rewrite in years when we began (to) set foot on the journey of  'photon count' 4 years ago." He also highlighted that FSD (Supervised) V13 is the culmination of the collaboration between numerous Tesla teams, from data, vision, compiler, system, firmware, UI, QA, PM, and others.

In a later post, Tsai clarified that FSD (Supervised) V13 is a complete rewrite. And when asked if the leap between FSD V12 to V13 is more substantial compared to the leap from FSD V11 to V12, the Tesla AI team member noted that the V13 build is quite akin to SpaceX's Raptor Engine V3 for Starship. “If we can visualize FSD v13, it would look a lot like Raptor v3. Very clean,” the Tesla AI team member wrote in a post on X.

For context, here are the release notes for FSD (Supervised) V13, as shared by Ashok Elluswamy, the VP of AI Software at Tesla.
