DEFENDING CHAMPIONS FACE OFF

RJ Hampshire won the West Coast series in 2024.

Rj Hampshire is not exactly defending his title as he was the West Coast winner in 2024 and is switching to East Coast for 2025. This is because he was battling an injury to his wrist early in the season. RJ was not hiding the fact that he was injured and wanted to take the proper steps to get back on the bike. He is the only 250 rider under the Husqvarna semi this year and will attempt to grab them a second consecutive championship

Tom Vialle is defending his East Coast championship.

Tom Vialle is currently defending his East Coast championship which he won in a battle with Haiden Deegan in 2024. Tom has been testing and training through the offseason and has a good chance to be victorious once again this season. This will not come easy though as the current field has a lot of riders that have the potential. Austin Forkner was the series leader last year prior to injury and he will be back giving his best effort to win again. Tom is a mature rider and will attempt to withstand all the adversity to grab another championship.

2025 TAMPA SUPERCROSS: RACE DAY SCHEDULE

Tampa does not look as challenging as some of the tracks we’ve seen previously this season.

The track in Tampa does not seem to have as challenging rhythm sections this year. However, it does appear to have a very challenging sand section with a rhythm included. This will be a definite separator of the riders along with the deep East Coast dirt is should make for some great racing.

INJURED LIST:

JETT LAWRENCE – KNEE

The moment of disaster for Jett Lawrence.

Jett Lawrence had an incident this past weekend in Glendale when he dabbed his knee on the ground resulting in a torn ACL. The defending champion immediately pulled off the track and was unable to finish. After an MRI on Monday, his injury became more clear and he will be missing the remaining rounds of the 2025 Supercross series.

JORGE PRADO – SHOULDER

Jorge Prado will be out for the rest of the season.

Unfortunately, Jorge Prado will miss the 2025 Glendale Supercross this Saturday, and the remainder of the Supercross season. After dislocating his shoulder in practice at Anaheim 2, the World Champion is set to go under the knife and get his shoulder repaired.

Jorge Prado stated: “Bad news :/ Surgery is needed to fix my shoulder and I will be out for the rest of the Supercross season. Time of rehab is unknown and hopefully I can make it to the start of outdoors. I will be back strong like I always do.”

STILEZ ROBERTSON – WRIST

22-year-old Stilez Robertson has had a tough go with injuries.

Stilez Robertson sat out the entire 2024 season with a wrist injury. He was supposed to race 250SX East for Triumph alongside Jalek Swoll, but things changed the week of Anaheim 1. Jalek got injured, and the team decided to switch Austin Forkner from West to East to fill Jalek’s void, and they moved Stilez to the West division to accompany Jordon Smith. Sadly, Stilez aggravated his wrist at San Diego, and he will sit out Anaheim 2 and Glendale in hopes of returning healthy for the Arlington Supercross, on February 22nd.

RYDER DIFRANCESCO – DAMAGED INTESTINE, ARM

Ryder Difrancesco was fourth at Anaheim 1 and fifth at San Diego. Unfortunately, he will sit out Anaheim 2.

Sean Murphy, Team Manager for the Rockstar GasGas Team Manager said:“I am gutted that we share the news of Ryder D’s practice crash at RD Field yesterday. Ryder was immediately transported to the hospital, where he was evaluated for his injuries. In just his second year of racing Supercross, Ryder had been showing incredible potential and was making significant strides toward the podium. This setback early in the season is gut-wrenching, as Ryder was on an upward trajectory, improving with each round. Our rider’s safety and health will always be our top priority, and we will ensure that Ryder takes the necessary time to recover fully and come back stronger.”

Additionally, Ryder’s Mom, Lisa DiFrancesco, posted an update on Instagram: “Randy and I owe no explanations to Ryder’s injuries to anyone, and neither does the team. For those who are spreading and posting false information, please STOP; a simple prayer is more appropriate. I will, though, set the record straight. Ryder had a crash on his dirt bike the Thursday before A2. He suffered an injury to his small intestine, which was torn in two. The medical team had to remove some damaged intestine and his damaged appendix. They successfully reconstructed the intestine and put it back together. He also has a broken rib and arm, which are minor issues and the least of our worries compared to the rest. Ryder has been discharged from the hospital, is resting at home, and is on the path to recovery. To all those who have prayed for Ryder and sent heartfelt messages, thank you; Randy and I are very grateful. Ryder has an amazing team of people behind him that will help him return to racing his dirt bike.”

TY MASTERPOOL – FINGERS

Ty Masterpool over shot a triple in the “triple-quad” rhythm section at San Diego and he broke fingers in his hand.

Ty Masterpool was brought onto Pro Circuit Kawasaki for outdoors last year as a fill-in rider, and he earned a factory ride for the 2025 season with the team. He was originally slated to race 250SX East, but when Levi Kitchen pulled out of Anaheim 1 at the last-minute with an illness, Ty was asked to come West and fill-in for Levi starting at San Diego. Unfortunately, his Supercross season didn’t get off to a great start, as he ended the night with broken fingers.

We expect Ty Masterpool to be back at the races soon.

TALON HAWKINS – FEMUR

Talon Hawkins had a scary crash at San Diego when he attempted to seat bounce into one of the larger rhythm sections, sending him off the back of the bike and on the ground hard. As a result, he ended up breaking his femur and will be out for the rest of the Supercross season.

AVERY LONG – CONCUSSION

Supercross rookie, Avery Long, crashed during the 250 LCQ at San Diego and he ended up with a concussion. We are unsure when he will return.

NOAH VINEY – SHOULDER

MCR Honda rider, Noah Viney, cased the famous San Diego Supercross quad during qualifying and dislocated his shoulder. He tried to ride the next session, but he wasn’t able to do it. He will miss the remainder of the Supercross season.

JALEK SWOLL – ACHILLES

Jalek Swoll was originally supposed to race 250SX East, but now he will miss the Supercross season entirely.

Jalek Swoll sustained an Achilles tear while practicing on Tuesday before Anaheim 1. Because of this, Triumph knew he wouldn’t be back on the bike in time to race 250SX East, and they didn’t want to put Stilez Robertson (fresh off season-long wrist injury) as their only rider on the 250SX East Coast by himself. So instead, they pulled Austin Forkner from the West Coast lineup and moved to be their lone rider representing Triumph on the East. It is not determined when well see Jalek back on the bike.

CHRISTIAN CRAIG – KNEE

Christian Craig posted on X that he will not be racing at the start of the season as he would like to make sure his knee is fully recovered. He is looking to return at the Tampa Supercross. However, he’s still been at the races helping out Haiden Deegan.

CASEY COCHRAN – LEG INJURY

Casey Cochran had a crash in the offseason where he unfortunately had broken his femur. He has recently been back on the bike but it was reported that the injury was still lingering. It is unclear if he will be lining up at Tampa this weekend.

450 POINT STANDINGS (AFTER ROUND 4 OF 17)

Ken Roczen would lose the red plate in Glendale, however, he only sits two points down from Chase Sexton as the head to the East Coast next weekend for racing in Tampa.
