250 RACE RESULTS // 2024 SOUTHWICK NATIONAL

Haiden Deegan enters the 2024 Southwick National with all the momentum and a 32-point lead over Chance Hymas who is second, 38-point gap on Tom Vialle, 47-point gap on Levi Kitchen and 55-point gap on Jo Shimoda. Southwick comes after a weekend off in the series, and surprisingly, the Star Racing Yamaha team was actually in Massachusetts last week riding at Southwick during their last two open practice days before the National. Haiden Deegan’s worst race of the 2023 Pro Motocross series came at Southwick last year, going 4-10 in the motos, so this year he and the team made the extra effort to go to Southwick early and ride the track with the rest of the New England locals. Did it pay off? See the results from both 250 motos as they come in below.

250 MOTO 1 RESULTS

Haiden Deegan won the first moto by 15 seconds at Southwick.

Haiden Deegan grabbed the holeshot in the first 250 moto with Levi Kitchen second, but Levi couldn’t stay there on the first lap. He made a mistake and got passed by Chance Hymas and then Tom Vialle passed him on the first lap too. Jo Shimoda and Max Anstie went down in the first turn, and then Max Anstie’s bike expired later that same lap. Eight minutes into the race Nick Romano was fifth, Joey Savatgy sixth, Ryder Difrancesco seventh and Jalek Swoll eighth. Last week’s overall winner, Ty Masterpool, was ninth early. Dilan Schwartz was making good progress on the BarX Suzuki, catching Ryder DiFrancesco who was 11th after a crash, and Nick Romano who was 10th. Ryder passed Nick and then Nick made a mistake and accidentally cut across Dilan’s line and took him out. Then Dilan got hit in the head by Casey Cochran, unfortunately.

At the halfway mark, Tom Vialle passed Chance Hymas for second. With three laps to go, Jalek Swoll’s Triumph TF250-X quit, causing him to DNF. Jalek’s trainer, Mike Brown, was there to push the bike back. Tom Vialle caught Haiden Deegan with about ten minutes to go, but Tom ran into some lap traffic and lost time. From there, Tom slowed down and looked like he was trying to save energy for moto 2.
