• MXA PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: WORKS CONNECTION FORK GUARD REINFORCING KIT

Under the stress of racing and especially using a holeshot device, your forks guards can tear loose from their bottom mounts. The Works Connection Fork Guard Reinforcing kit adds strength to the fork guard for every situation. The new fork  straps are made from durable, corrosion-resistant, 304 stainless steel. The kit includes special ‘flush’ mounted bolts. It is used by Team HRC/Honda and Star Racing Yamaha.

The retail price is $14.95 from www.worksconnection.com.

THINGS YOU WISH YOU COULD UNSEE! THE YAMAHA CROSS HUB PICKUP TRUCK

The Yamaha Cross Hub was a decidedly ugly concept pickup truck—that Yamaha pitched just before gioving up the idea of selling cars.

Inside the Cross Hub cockpit. It seats four passengers, but in a strange diamond-shape that has been used in some Supercars. The driver sits in the center of the cab, while the rear passenger is in tandem with the driver. The two other passengers are offset on each side of the driver.

Yamaha does not sell cars or trucks, although they do produce parts and engines for other car manufacturers—and at one-time supplied a Formula 1 engine. The Cross Hub could be marketed at Yamaha motorcycle dealerships—if all the government hurdles could be jumped. But, this truck never saw production.

It’s big inside and small on the outside. It seems strange that a motorcycle company would design a pickup truck that has to have the motorcycle put in the bed askew. There were no details about an engine or drivetrain.

• MXA AD OF THE WEEK: “SIX OUT OF THE PAST SEVEN”

CZ may have won six out of the past seven years in the 250 or 500 class back in the 1960s and 1970s with Viktor Arbekov, Joel Robert and Paul Friedrichs, but the 1972 CZ125 was lucky to win a local race. It had the same chassis, seat, tank, wheels and suspension as on the CZ360, but with an anemic 125cc engine. CZ claimed 225 pounds during an era when 125s weight 195 pounds.

• MXA COVER OF THE WEEK: “TOMORROW’S MX BIKES” NEVER GOT HERE

When this August 1993 cover came out, there was little doubt that the lack of signage on motocross bikes had hurt them when it came to signing outside sponsors. Over 30 years ago, Slater Skins and Rhino Skins tried to get race teams to switch to bodywork that would allow sponsors logos to be visible from the stands. Although a handful or Arenacross and freestyle riders adopted them, no factory race teams took the plunge because the motorcycle manufacturers didn’t want the teams covering up the look of their bikes
.

For the last two years, the 150SX two-stroke has been missing from KTM’s lineup, but now it’s back! Ever since KTM came out with their all-new fuel-injected two-stroke platform in 2023, the 150SX has been missing off the list. Now it’s back, and it comes with the new generation 2025 KTM chromoly steel frame, it has the updated linkage and the mapping has been tailored specifically for this bike. In this video, MXA’s Josh Mosiman has test riders Jake Alvarez and Tristun Alvarez ride the 2025 KTM 150SX and the 2024 KTM 125SX back-to-back at Perris Raceway.
